What you want is for your book to pop up when somebody types in a certain keyword. Amazon allows you to use 7 keyword for your ebook and 7 for your paperback. These don’t have to be “words” they can be phrases. When searching for these, try to think what somebody would type in the search bar when looking for your type of book.

As for categories; when uploading your book you can choose two categories. But a lot of authors don’t know that when your book is live, you can email Amazon with the request to add 8 more. In total you can have 10 categories for your ebook and 10 for your paperback.
